How to find your EIN letter
The document we're looking for proves your EIN and exact legal name with the IRS. Any ONE of these works: the CP-575, a 147C letter, or your SS-4 confirmation.
1. Check your records for the CP-575
When your LLC got its EIN, the IRS mailed a one-page confirmation letter called the CP-575. It usually lives wherever your formation documents are: a folder from your accountant or registered agent, or scanned in your email. If you applied for the EIN online yourself, search your email for "EIN" or "SS-4": the confirmation PDF was shown on screen and often saved or emailed.
2. Ask your accountant, bank, or formation service
Whoever formed the LLC (CPA, attorney, LegalZoom-style service) almost always kept a copy. Your bank also collected it when you opened the business account and can often pull it from their file in minutes.
3. Lost it? Get a free replacement (147C letter)
The IRS won't reissue a CP-575, but they'll send a 147C verification letter that works exactly the same for us:
- • Call the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line: 800-829-4933 (Mon-Fri, 7am-7pm your local time)
- • Say you need a 147C letter for your business
- • You must be an owner/officer of the LLC; they'll verify your identity
- • Ask for it by fax if you can (instant); mail takes 4-6 weeks
Then come back and upload it
A photo of the letter from your phone is perfectly fine. Head back to the intake form tab you already have open, tap the upload box, and you're done. If you already submitted the form without it, just reply to any email from us with the document attached and we'll take care of the rest.
